Kevin Doyle celebrated his winning goal against Derby by sliding on his knees, but he has been warned against doing this again.

After scoring his first goal of the season Doyle celebrated with a knee slide, but with the fear that he could damage knee ligaments coach Kevin Dillon has banned him from doing this again, Dillon told the Reading Evening Post, “I was a bit concerned about Doyler’s goal celebrations because he nearly did his knee ligaments. I will have to have a word with him about that, although I wouldn’t mind a somersault because he would be in more control.

“Solskjaer got injured doing a knee slide when United won the Champions League a few years ago. That is seriously why he had the problems he had afterwards.”

I think it was more the case that players then mobbed him, so the strain that it put on his knees in an awkward position could have caused damage, something that neither can afford. It is bad enough when this happens purely in an accidental challenge, but if it happens as a result of your own actions in part it would be even worse.

I like to see people celebrate goals, but I don’t want to see anyone, definitely someone as important as Doyle, get injured.
