Emerse Fae, Reading’s club record signing, has voiced his concerns at his chances of making the Ivory Coast squad for January’s African Cup of Nations, while also admitting he’s struggled in England so far.

Since signing from Nantes Fae has found it difficult in the Premier League, starting just four matches, and he has admitted that he has found it tough going so far, “English football is very different, it’s more physical and much quicker. In France there’s more time on the ball, it’s more tactical and you wait for your chance to attack,” Emerse Fae told the Reading Chronicle.

“The best way to learn is to practice and play and I’m happy at Reading.”

He is currently away on international duty but he fears that unless he can force a regular first team place with Reading he will miss out on the African Cup of Nations, having played in the final of he last tournament, which the Ivory Coast lost to Egypt. He also told the Reading Chronicle, “It’s a problem if I don’t play for Reading. Maybe I won’t go to the African Cup of Nations and I’m a bit worried.

“I wonder if I’m going now. If I don’t play in Reading’s team it’s almost impossible for me to go.

“It’s always disappointing when you aren’t playing but it’s no reason to stop working. I always work hard, it’s not a problem for me.”

It is basically down to Fae to force his way in, and make sure he stays. It’s not easy to adjust to the Premier League, some find it tougher than others, but I feel sure he will.

I wouldn’t think Fae has too much to worry about, he should make it into their squad anyway, but it is down to him to force his way into the Reading team and show just why Steve Coppell broke our record to sign him.

Hunt is a dirty nasty piece of work and any neutral has that opinion. He knew what he was doing when he put Cheq in Hospital and I am a Spurs fan.

  • Madejski Royal says:

Believe me I can be completely neutral, and I still don’t think he meant to put Cech in hospital. But how does one inncident make Hunt a nasty bit of work?
