Reading starlet Jordan Obita has said he wants to sign a new deal with the club, as he continues his outstanding progress.

The Oxford-born attacker has made superb progress over the past two years, despite being at the tender age of 18. Obita has already been in a Championship 16-man match-day squad and has had two loan spells at League Two sides Barnet and Gillingham, scoring a credible three goals in 11 appearances.

Speaking to the Reading Post, Obita said: “I want to stay here – it`s a great club. There are a lot of great players here and everyone in the first-team has been good to me. In Portugal I was rooming with Adrian Mariappa and he went through the youth ranks at Watford and talks to me a lot. Playing Premier League football will be my main challenge – trying to get into the team is my main aim.’

As mentioned, Obita was a part of the Royals squad that jetted off to Portugal for a pre-season tour last week. He appeared in all three friendlies and also got on the scoresheet in our 7-0 victory at Wimbledon last month, with a superb left-foot volley. The England U19 international was also nominated for the Football League Championship Apprentice of the Year.
