The Royals have twelve games left to save the season. I take look at the remaining fixtures and try to determine where the points will come from and ask you to make your predictions

23 Feb Aston Villa H D
1 Mar Middlesbrough A L
8 Mar Man City H D
15 Mar Liverpool A L
22 Mar Birmingham H W
29 Mar Blackburn H W
5 Apr Newcastle A D
12 Apr Fulham H W
19 Apr Arsenal A L
26 Apr Wigan A D
3 May Tottenham H L
11 May Derby A W

Aston Villa – Many fans are surprised at how well the Villains have performed in the Premier League this year. I have this game as a draw but only if Reading is able to cope with Young out wide and stop the service to the front two. (1-1)D

Middlesbrough – Started very poorly again this year but shows what can happen when a chairman sticks with a manager under pressure. Southgate looks to have turned their season and has made an interesting signing in Alves. I have this down as a Middlesbrough win. (2-1) L

Man City – Have shown a great consistency under Sven this year who made some expensive, yet quality signings in the summer. Petrov looks to be their inspiration and again Reading will need to stop the service to Benjani, who loves to score against them. (2-2)D

Liverpool – Great home win against the Reds earlier in the season. Liverpool has suffered a little dip in the league since Christmas but will be fully focused on the 4th spot. (3-1)L

Birmingham – A massive game and potential relegation decider. Birmingham has already frustrated Arsenal away from home this season. I think we will be under a lot of pressure to win the game but see us coming away winners (2-1) W

Blackburn – A Very hard team to break down, even when they are away from home. Santa Cruz is on top form for Rovers and looks to be a great asset to Blackburn. I think Reading will re discover our home form and will be buoyed by the win against Birmingham. (1-0) W

Newcastle – The great under achievers. Huge pressure will be on them to get a result against Reading at home but they consistently buckle under the expectations from the Geordie faithful. (2-2) D

Fulham – Season decider and a must win home game. Fulham who are terrible away will see this game as a chance to break their duck. Huge amounts of pressure will be on Reading to get the result so a very close game. (1-0) W

Arsenal – Everyone thought without Henry they would be suspect in the league this year. Surprisingly they have been given a new sense of freedom with Henry’s departure and will be challenging for the title. (3-1) L

Wigan – A very scrappy game on a cow field for a football pitch. No fluent football from either team. (0-0) D

Tottenham – A new lease of life under Ramos and I think Tottenham will be pushing for the UEFA cup spot. Tactics will win the game. (0-1) L

Derby – Already relegated, Derby will have nothing to lose. Possibly a difficult game to approach for Reading as it could be a must win game. (2-3) W

15pts look possible but will that be enough? I hope so.

Good article mate. Fifteen points would definitely be enough, as I cant see fulham or b’ham getting many more points. If we manage to get a win against villa we shud be ok, but the longer we go without winning, the harder it’s gonna be to get out of this mess. This is my prediction:

    Aston Villa D
    Middlesbrough W
    Man City D
    Liverpool L
    Birmingham W
    Blackburn D
    Newcastle L
    Fulham W
    Arsenal L
    Wigan W
    Tottenham L
    Derby D

    16 points :o)

Can see at least 13 points in there, i think 32 points would be enough this year anyway, terrible standard of team after spurs in the league.

  • oranje_emu says:

You will lose to villa, Man City, Liverpool, Blackburn, Newcastle, Fulham, Arsenal and Tottenham and draw the rest. might be able to get something from Newcastle, never know which team they have out.

    Jog on.

I wish I could be more confident, only 5 pts from a similar number of games? Glen Little is sorely missed, hope he is match fit soon.
