The day that all Royals fans were dreading and has come and gone without the stress and panic that many believed it would bring.
With prize assets Kevin Doyle, Leroy Lita, James Harper and Stephen Hunt all rumoured to be possible targets of Premier League clubs, it was a big relief for Reading fans when midnight came around with no transfer activity at the Madejski Stadium.
There was an hour or so of panic following a £3.5m bid for Stephen Hunt from Everton, but Steve Coppell stood firm, knocking the bid back. With rumours of a £5m release clause in Hunt’s contract all eyes were on David Moyes in the hope that he wouldn’t return with an improved bid and he didn’t.
With Dave Kitson, Nicky Shorey, Glen Little and most recently Ibrahima Sonko, Reading fans were desperate not to lose any more players for the transfer window slammed shut.
Despite there being no players brought in, there is still the chance to sign loan players should the squad need strengthening.
With no transfer distractions until January now, boss Steve Coppell will be hoping his players can focus on the matter in hand, promotion back into the Premier League.
