Royals defender completes Cardiff move

Sean Morrison no longer a Reading player, after signing for Championship side Cardiff for a fee around £3 million.

The 23-year old had a medical with Cardiff this morning, after agreeing terms with the Royals and Morrison last night. After being told about Cardiff’s interest yesterday, Morro was very keen on the move and he signed a four-year deal with the Welsh club earlier today.

This puts to an end a three-and-half year stay with the Royals, after we signed him from Swindon in January 2011. He made 45 appearances in total for us, with 16 of those coming in the Premier League. However, he has now moved on, as we will hopefully seek a replacement.

I wouldn’t expect Morro to get the best reception when he returns here, especially as it was all in similar circumstances to Matt Mills – a player trying to force a move, with the lure of money. While it is sad to see him go, he is definitely replaceable.

I’d imagine Hector will now take up his spot alongside Pearce until a replacement is found, with Akpan taking Hector’s central midfield spot. I hope Adkins uses the money well to find a replacement that is not only experienced, but is suited to his footballing philosophy.

surprised you sold him, but good profit when you paid 750k for him i suppose, also Swindon will be taking their cut of sell on I’d imagine. Good quality Centre Backs are at a premium so losing someone of Morrison’s class is going to be felt… Was awesome whilst on loan at Huddersfield.
