Reading vs Fulham

Image for Reading vs Fulham

With all eyes on Manchester United and Arsenal this weekend, it would be easy to forget about little Reading and little Fulham, but trust me, it doesn’t get much bigger than this.

Vital Quotes:

Steve Coppell on stickability:

‘Both teams need to win but Fulham need to win more. It would be very difficult for them to get out if they don’t win.

‘In a game like this there is always an element of nerves, an element of bottle and of people just being prepared to get a result come what may.

‘Whichever team has the most stickability is the one that will come though on Saturday.’

Reading Team News:

Marek Matejovsky returns from suspension and superstar Glen Little should be on the bench.

Player to watch: Glen Little

If he does get a run out today, it will lift the fans and the players. Little really does have the quality to change games.

Fulham Team News:

Eddie Johnson is ill and Antti Niemi is still injured.

Player to watch: Jimmy Bullard

Runs his socks off, would be a great signing for anyone if Fulham do go down.

Match Facts & Stats

Reading are six points above the danger line and Fulham are six points below it.

Ref Watch:

Chris Foy (St Helens, Merseyside)

Match Prediction:

Massive, massive game. There’s going to be a lot of nerves, and a draw is probably the most likely result, although Reading may just nick it.

My prediction: Reading 5 Fulham 0

After that performace we clearly need to go down! I don’t understand our massive inconsistancy at home this year! Who would have thought an opening day draw against Man United at Old trafford and now we are in this relegation Dog fight! 2nd Season syndrome struck us big time! Fulham fully deserved the win and it should have been by a lot more! I would love to be writting a glowing report on the Royals instead of this but we seem to have given up the fight!

I hate to say it, coz he’s done a fantastic job, but i think it may be time for you guys to start thinking of a replacement for coppell. He played it perfectly until the January window where he really needed to strengthen more than he did. Doyle is beginning to show he is out of his depth, as are many other players. A good unit, but once its been sussed, it needs to change. Hopefully Glen Little will win an extra year (don’t know if he’s agreed a new contract with you or not) as you clearly miss his trickery and delivery of the ball, Harper and shorey stay and Sonko gets back to his “man of steel” ways. Best of luck to you in the remaining few (except against us of course) and hope your still around next season!

I agree with you completely Dave. Copps is a legend, but he said himself he needs a break from football. Expect him to leave by his own accord at the end of the seasons, whether we stay up or not.

Cheers DTY, I would love to say “No Coppell to stay” but I think he is falling out of love with the job. He showed a real lack of willingness to improve the team in Jan when we clearly needed some extra strength and depth. Hate to say it but the first one to go end of season will prob be Sir Steve!
