A quick update of the Royals’ pre-season program, as the second friendly game in Portugal has been confirmed.

The Reading squad returned to pre-season training today, but those who have been on international duty over the past few weeks, have been given time off. Despite some returning to Hogwood today, they will set off to a Midland training camp over the new few days, but again will not include those who have been on international duty.

The whole squad will fly out to Portugal in two weeks time and their second friendly fixture has been confirmed, to take place against Portuguese top division side FC Olhanense. The game is due to take place on Friday 19th July at the Estadio Municipal de Leiria.

We played against them in last years pre-season in Portugal, with the game finishing 1-1, in a very feisty encounter. In the latter stages of the game, a late challenge from Adam Le Fondre sparked a mass confrontation between the two sets of players, but no action was taken by the referee.
