With the Royals reportedly in the market for a loan midfielder to fill the void left by Gylfi Sigurdsson, it was no surprise to see us linked with Kevin McDonald over the weekend.

The Scottish midfielder is out of favour at Turf Moor and is looking for a move away for some first team football.

He started his career at Dundee, and his performances at Dens Park saw him subject of a bid from Celtic. However the Glasgow clubs bid was considered derisory and he eventually joined Burnley in 2008.

He shot to prominance when he scored both goals in the Carling Cup win over Arsenal. However last season against Man City he was hauled off at half time in a 6-1 defeat and left the ground straight away, heading for the pub! You won’t be surrised to hear that he has not been manager Brian Laws favourite player since and struggles to even make the bench right now.

McDonald would be perfect to sit in the forward midfield role, and would be a decent addition in my opinion.
