Reading keeper Alex McCarthy has said that the team are confident going into Tuesday night’s game with Manchester City.

The 23-year old has kept two consecutive clean sheets at home and will want to add a third when Roberto Mancini’s side visit the Madejski Stadium in three days time. McCarthy is also one of three nominated players for the Player of the Season award, with the winner being revealed at the game.

Speaking to the Official Reading FC website, McCarthy said: “The way we’re playing and the style we’re playing gives us more opportunities all over the pitch and I think on Saturday the result reflected the way we played. I thought we were top drawer and fully deserved the three points.’

‘Obviously it’s nice to keep a clean sheet and to get a point in the last couple of games was great but to get three points is a massive feeling – it gives us great confidence going into the next game. They’re the games you want to be involved in and playing in. They are massive games, and City have great players.’
