Not that many Royals fans would known, Karl Sheppard left on loan in January, and has now extended his stay at Shamrock Rovers.

The 22-year old is yet to make an appearance for the Royals and after a season of frustration, opted to rejoin his former club in Ireland. This loan deal was set to run out in the coming days, but Shamrock opted to extend his loan to the end of the Irish season, which is in October.

Sheppard hasn’t had the best goal to game ratio back in his homeland though, scoring just two goals in fifteen games. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Sheppard leave permanently in January, as it doesn’t seem he has fulfilled his potential, which is a shame really. He had promise, but injury hampered any hope of progression into the first team.
