Royals boss talks transfers

Nigel Adkins has made some astute additions so far, but said there is still more to come on the transfer front!

The former Southampton manager is keeping his cards close to his chest and is not giving any specific names away, but is said Anton’s wallet won’t be closing just yet! There have been rumours linking us with strikers Billy Sharp and Gary Hooper in the past few weeks.

Speaking to the Official Reading FC website, Adkins said: ‘I believe we have as strong squad already, and I`d like to think that by the time the transfer window closes we`ll have an exceptionally strong squad to give ourselves an opportunity to achieve what we want to. I think there`ll be more business to be done.’

‘For me, we need to be strong as a football club. Can you keep building on the lessons from before? Can you keep building a club with a strong foundation? We want to be back in the Premier League and we want this season to be exciting for our supporters.’

I agree we already have a strong squad already, that is capable of winning the division. However, it seems everyone is agreed that we are still a striker short. Pogrebnyak and Alfie are two top strikers, but one more would create good competition for the upcoming season.
