Little to join Pompey

Reading favourite Glen Little has joined Premier League Portsmouth on a free transfer.

Right-winger Little was poised to sign an extended deal with the Royals, but it appears the lure of the Premier League was too strong for the 32-year old and he has signed a one-year deal with Harry Redknapp’s side.

Little, who was pivotal in Reading`s record-breaking Championship win, has struggled with injury over the last two seasons, and despite only making two performances for the Royals last season, the club stuck by him and offered him a new deal.

Little has obviously decided that at his age he needs to be playing Premier League football and with potentially only a year left in him, the extra money will be of great benefit to him as well.

Royals Director of Football Nick Hammond said, ‘We offered Glen a new contract, but it appears that the lure of the Premier League and European Football proved too strong.`

Little had become a big fan favourite during his time at Reading due to his flair and creativity.

Royals fans will be gutted to see him go, but will surely understand his reasons.

Everyone at Vital Reading wishes him the best of luck at Fratton Park and we hope he stays fit enough to make the mark in the Premier League he was unable to do at Reading.

I’m absolutely devastaded. Had he been fit last season, we would have stayed up, simple as that.
I feel physically sick. He’ll almost definitely be a back-up player at pompey, whereas we despearately need his creativity to help us get back up. Good luck to him, hope he makes an impact. Goodbye Glen, I love you and your stupid voice.

We are all a bit gobsmacked by this. I thought we were going to sign Shorey from you. Never saw this coming. Good luck for next season & hope to see you back in the prem soon.

Cheers mate. You can have shorey as well, at least we’ll get some money for him. Little’s gonna be very hard to replace, I really hope he does well for you tho.

thats a real kick in the teeth to Reading fans! Probably one of the best chances of an instant return. A player with his ability to maze and deliver is hard to come by in the championship and he will be hard to replace. Can’t see quite why Pompey have gone ahead with this, but it could prove to be a shrewd bit of business by Harry!

I am surprised that Portsmouth have come in for him. He missed the whole of last season and at 32 his best days are behind him.

I literally haven’t stopped crying since I heard the news. i’m getting some very strange looks from my work colleagues. I had to tell them my dog just died…

i will miss rading next season – and i think you will miss little. I can’t see why we have gone for him, and i think it is actually a shame that we have done. he should be staying at reading getting you back into the premiership, not wasting on our bench.

A missed season can add a year to your career so the pundits say. Hope he does well for us but I think he will be a squad player. HR may have pulled another rabbit of the hat though.

Come on you Royals fans is he REALLY as good as you say …?

if you want to be promotion candidates, you have to hold onto your star players.

Chix – I think you will be suprised at how good Glen is!
