Reading defender Ibrahima Sonko came through his first 45 minutes since his cruciate ligament injury in January for the reserves in Wednesday evenings defeat to Fulham, and he is glad to be back.

Sonko is not sure when he will be back in Steve Coppell’s side, but he is not rushing things anyway, as he is just glad to be back as he told readingfc.co.uk, “It’s nice to be back, but I forgot how hard it was.

“It’ll take me a few games to settle, but it’s nice to come and play 45 minutes. As I get more time I’ll get better.

“I don’t know when I’ll play for the first team, it’s up to the manager. I will wait for my chance. Hopefully I have proved something, and I trust him (Coppell), he knows what’s best.”

Just having Sonko come through that 45 minutes is a bonus, there is no point in rushing him back, so another reserve game or two and he will be back.

Liverpool next week in the Carling Cup was the aim, but there is no point rushing things if he is not ready, that will only make things worse.
