Ingimarsson has been out injured with a knee injury and last featured for the Royals against Swansea in January. However he has remained in new boss Brendan Rodgers plans and has even been given the club captaincy, so it was fantastic to see the Icelandic defender back in action.

He played the first half in a 2-0 win and lined up alongside a number of our new signings including Gzregorz Rasiak and Darren O’Dea who scored the Royals goals.

Both goals came from Brian Howard corners and a young Pompey side gave a strong Reading side a good run out during the international break.
