Crystal Palace boss Ian Holloway has confirmed Nigel Adkins has given him permission to speak to Jimmy Kebe.

The Reading winger’s future at the Madejski Stadium has been thrown into doubt in recent days, after declaring himself unavailable for the midweek game against Peterborough. This has left his manager and fans disappointed alike, who expect Jimmy to be leaving the club soon.

Quoted by Sky Sports, Holloway commented on the Kebe speculation by saying that: ‘He’s one of the ones we’re trying to pursue. I was allowed to speak to Jimmy at about half 11 on Wednesday night. I don’t know where we are with that.’

If Adkins has given Jimmy permission to speak to Palace even without a fee being agreed, it seems he doesn’t seem that bothered to let him go. If Jimmy was to depart, I would imagine that would free up some wages for some new acquisitions in the final few days of the window.
