On-loan Portsmouth goalkeeper Mikkel Andersen has said he hopes his deal with the League One club can be extended beyond this week.

The 23-year old joined the cash-strapped club on loan last month and has been gaining some crucial first-team experience for Michael Appleton’s side. Andersen, who has impressed between the sticks at Pompey so far and also kept in a clean sheet against Crawley mid-week, has said he hopes to extend his loan deal which ends next week.

Speaking to bold.dk, Andersen said: ‘I am counting on the deal being extended. I am very, very happy here. Even though Portsmouth are playing in League One it is still a huge club. There is a healthy mentality here and the fans are amazing. No matter where we play the fans will always be behind us.’

‘The home ground is almost always packed and sometimes when we play away from home the support is so great that it feels like a home game. Portsmouth worked hard to get me and Reading were willing to help me. So I am certain that I will get to stay here and hopefully I will continue to play regularly.’
