Cummings interests Brighton

Out of favour right back Shaun Cummings is interesting league one club Brighton as the summer transfer frenzy hots up. The former Chelsea defender has found himself no where near the first team picture since before Brendan Rodger’s departure and has yet to play a single minute of football under Brian McDermott.

With the Royals desperate to sign Andy Griffin from the Stoke, the man who kept Cummings out of the first team since January during a loan spell, it doesn’t look on the face of things like there will be a place for Cummings next season either.

Seagulls manager Gus Poyet cast an eye over Cummings during some reserve encounters last season and could be ready to end his Royals nightmare.

However it was his performances, and the fact he wore the captains armband, in these reserve games that suggest to be that we haven’t seen the last of the snoop dog look a like! McDermott and Eamon Dolan praised his displays for the second string at the back end of last season and Nigel Gibbs has already said that he will be here fighting for his place next season.

Until he is playing regularly though he is always likely to be linked with moves away, so watch this space.

Perhaps a loan move to Brighton would suit him, and give him a chance to prove himself.
