Royals manager Nigel Adkins is pleased with the club’s summer acquisitions (so far).

Reading have already managed to attract three former and current internationals in Wayne Bridge, Royston Drenthe and Wayne Bride to the Madejski Stadium, as well as agreeing a new contract with Alex Pearce. Despite no signings since the start of last week, it is highly unlikely that Adkins is finished in the transfer window.

Speaking to the Reading Post, Adkins said: ‘They are three excellent additions and we`ve got Alex Pearce as well who`s just signed a new contract. We`ve got excellent players here at Reading and now we`ve brought in three new characteristics in different positions. They will enhance what we`ve got.’

‘The club has invested well so far this summer. A team that has just been relegated sometimes finds it challenging, but towards the end of last season there was a change in feel good factor even though results didn`t go our way. There is a positivity around the place and that`s good to see.”

Interesting how Adkins did not want to talk about them individually, I can only take it that he didn’t want to focus the spotlight on any players in particular. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Adkins to bring in a striker or two, with Gary Hooper and Billy Sharp being the favoured media links at the moment.
