Some Reading fans have Jobi McAnuff doubted Jobi McAnuff’s abilities as captain, but maintains he still cares about the club immensely.

The 30-year old is now into his final year of his contract and no discussions have yet taken place to agree an extension. McAnuff has previously spoken about possibly ending his playing career in the United Arab Emirates, but has said he is still fully committed to the club, as long as he is required.

Quoted by the Official Reading FC website, Jobi said: ‘Anyone that knows me or has followed my career will know that it’s the longest amount of time I’ve spent at a club. I feel very much part of the club, I’ve enjoyed my time here so far immensely. I guess those good times are not as good if you haven’t had a few bad moments.’

‘That changing room after the play-off final defeat in 2011 was a bad one to be in, and we made sure not to go through that again. Next year, we obviously went up as Champions. So we’ll use last year as a lesson, and something to really spur us on for this season.’

I can see McAnuff staying beyond this season, but it mainly depends in what league we will be in a years time. Jobi had a fairly inconsistent season last campaign, but did get used as a scapegoat on many occasions. His experience will be crucial for the upcoming season.
