Reading defender Andre Bikey got on the scoresheet as Cameroon coasted to a 3-0 victory over Mauritious.

Bikey opened the scoring after 12 minutes of the World Cup qualifier, while Barcelona striker Sammy Eto’o got the second and Gustave Bebey Mbangue completed the scoring.

Cameroon coach Otto Pfister believes his side can qualify for the World Cup, but he did have a little moan about the pitch.

He said, ‘We played well although the playing surface was very poor,’ he told BBC Sport.

‘We now have a big chance to qualify for the 2010 African Cup and World Cup and the team spirit is very good.’

Meanwhile Mauritius Coach Ashok Chundunsingh believes Cameroon are the type of side that can help his team improve.

He said, ‘This is a young team and it’s only our fifth match together. We started quite timidly but in second half we played much better.

‘We showed clearly that Mauritius can one day go to the World Cup but we have a small pool of players and in two years time, we’ll have a very good team.’

Pipe down quietman, 3-0s a rout regardless of opponent.

Wouldn’t it be nice if qualifying wasn’t done by continent. I am sure an away game at Mauritius would be welcome this time of year!
