As England aren’t in the Euro’s, here at Vital Reading, we’ll be following Marek Matejovsky’s Czech side.

Marek and the Czech’s will be kicking off proceedings against host nation Switzerland.

In recent years the Czech’s have always been a dark horse in the big tournaments, but following the international retirements of key players icluding Messrs Smicer, Berger, Paborsky and most importantly Nedved, the Czech’s are not seen as the force they once were.

To add to their woes, Captain and star man Thomas Rosicky will miss the championships through injury, although this could pave the way for Reading’s Matejovsky to shine.

Royals boss Steve Coppell has already given his backing to Marek, although admits he doesn’t want him to do too well or the Royals could come under pressure to sell the talented midfielder.

Coppell said, ‘It’s a strange one this, because my heart says I hope he goes there and does brilliantly.

‘But the reality is that if he does really well then we’ll be under pressure!

‘But seriously, I 100% want him to do well. He was terrific for us, a real breath of fresh air.

‘I know how proud he is about wanting to play for his country. I hope he plays every game, but not quite well enough to attract attention!’.

The Czech’s have every chance of making it out of their group, that includes Turkey and Portugal, along with Switzerland.

The action kicks off at 5pm tonight, and along with Matejovsky, the Czech side will include Pompey player Milan Baros and former Royals target Jan Koller.

Even though I would have liked England to qualify its actually nice to watch them with no pressure.
