On-loan Portsmouth goalkeeper Mikkel Andersen is set to return to his parent club Reading.

The League One outfit were keen to keep the Danish under 21 international for the season, but financial constraints meant that Pompey could only contract Andersen on a month-by-month basis. This means he will make his last appearance for the south-coast club on Tuesday against Leyton Orient, before returning to the Madejski Stadium.

It would be expected that Andersen will go back out on loan in January, but Brian McDermott would be hoping for a Championship approach to extend his ever-growing progress. Andersen was a constant starter at Fratton Park, appearing 17 times for the cash-strapped side and impressed many during his loan tenure.
