Reading striker Pavel Pogrebnyak has said he does still not regret leaving Fulham in the summer, despite his former side sitting nine places above the Royals.

The 29-year old decided to make the move to the Madejski Stadium over the summer, despite his previous side Fulham offering him a permanent contract to join the Cottagers. However, it hasn’t exactly turned out as Pavel expected, with Martin Jol’s side ten points above the relegation zone, where the Royals find themselves languishing.

Pogrebnyak has still publicly admitted his personal admiration for Fulham boss Martin Jol, having worked closely with the Dutchmen during his tenure at Craven Cottage. The Russian international told the Russian news website, www.rg.ru, that: ‘I am still in touch with Jol and he is a strong coach.’

‘My former team Fulham are doing better than Reading at the moment, but I wouldn’t say that I am sorry I left them. I would say that I feel gloomy. I make no secret of the fact that it was difficult for me to leave Martin Jol’s team. I had the desire to stay, but this is football and I signed for another team.’
