Reading’s potential new owner Anton Zingarevich has spoken of his aspirations for the club and how he hopes to make them a top ten side in the Premier League.

The 29-year old Russian businessmen is on the verge of a £25 million takeover of the Berkshire club from current owner Sir John Madejski. Anton’s firm Thames Sports Investments are currently in the process of passing the ‘fit and proper’ tests set by the Football League and now the Premier League, to avoid any potential financial trouble.

Zingarevich told Sky Sports News: ‘I think the infrastructure is something that we can work on. But in five years, I think we can make a top-ten club in England. You have the great people here and I think there is big potential in this club. I spent a couple of years here in Reading which were great, something that I will always remember.’

Anton was educated at Bearwood College in Reading in his early years, before moving onto University. The Russian tycoon also revealed that he will be offering his hand to Brian McDermott this summer as they bid to find new recruits for the Premier League, but has also emphasised their will be no extortionate and unneeded spending.
