With the first team set for a big FA cup tie with Liverpool next month, the youth team could also be set for a big tie in the youth FA cup after seeing off Cheltenham on Wednesday evening.
Reserve team regulars Abdullai Bell – Baggie and Jake Taylor scored the goals in a 2-1 win, after extra time.
The win sets up a possible tie with one of the bigs boys of youth football, and perhaps a tie with Liverpool who previous youth team have faced in recent seasons. It was also less than 10 years ago that a crowd of nearly 9,000 packed into the Mad Stad for a youth cup tie with Man Utd.
