It appears Reading have triggered a clause in Kebe’s contract to keep him at the club for a further year.

According to Sky Sports, Reading have opted to make the decision to fend off any potential Premier League suitors for the 29-year old. Kebe’s original contract was set to run out next summer, but the extension will prevent him from talking to any clubs post-January.

Norwich have been linked with Jimmy over the past few weeks, with some media outlets stating that the Canaries have bid over £2 million for his services. A move back to his native country France has also been mentioned, but Kebe wants to remain in England.

I don’t think we’re going to see the same Jimmy Kebe that was taking apart Championship full-backs two or three seasons ago, but he will certainly be one of our key players for coming season. There is stiff competition for the wing though, with McAnuff, Robson-Kanu, McCleary and the recently-impressive Jordan Obita, fighting for a place.
