Reading are on the verge of signing Nottingham Forest Gareth McCleary on a free transfer.

Jonny Fordham of the Reading Post has reported that the 24-year old has completed his medical with the Berkshire club and all that needs to be completed now is personal terms. His contract was set to run out at the end of the season but was in search of Premier League football.

Steve Cotterill and Nottingham Forest are keen to keep the winger who was voted their Player of the Season for this campaign. He has made 22 appearances for the Reds this season, scoring nine goals in the process. Four of those goals came at Elland road in March as Forest dismantled Leeds 7-3.
