The Championship season continued with the latest round of games played on Easter Monday.

Brighton secured promotion to the Premier League – virtually the title too – with a win over relegation threatened Wigan. Despite Newcastle’s defeat at Ipswich they should still finish in second, returning to the topflight at the first attempt.

A Huddersfield win would have taken them to within five points of the Magpies – with a game in hand – but seven will probably be too much? Therefore it should be the play-offs for Town, but Leeds could now miss out? Defeat against Wolves saw the Whites drop out when Fulham moved above them, into sixth, when they beat Aston Villa.

Wigan, at the other end, remain second-bottom and five points from safety. But Blackburn, 22nd, moved to within a point of Nottingham Forest after a draw with relegation rivals Bristol City – Forest were beaten by Cardiff.

Here’s a round-up of the Championship goals and key action.
