It was a successful start to pre-season for Reading, as they beat Wycombe Wanderers 3-1 at Hogwood.

Nigel Adkins opted to play two different sides in each half, with both teams coming across as quite mixed in ability. It was a good start for the Royals, who took the lead twenty minutes in, after Adam Le Fondre nodded in Nick Blackman’s effort that hit the crossbar.

Into the second period, Stephen Kelly conceded a penalty just past the hour mark and former Royals winger Dean Mogran converted from 12 yards. The League Two outfit made a number of changes themselves, but were heavily under pressure in the final stages of the game.

With ten minutes remaining, Pavel Pogrebnyak headed Reading back into the lead, following a corner from captain Jobi McAnuff. There was also a debut goal for a summer signing too, as Danny Williams added gloss to the scoreline, with a good finish from five yards.
