As we approach the opening game of the season, Vital Reading got the view of our opponents for tomorrow’s game, Ipswich Town. Season ticket holder Alex Tricker (@Alex_Tricker) was kind enough to answer some questions for us – focusing on the game at the Madejski Stadium. Alex talks about Ipswich’s aims for the season, our former player Jay Tabb and his prediction for the game.

——————————————————-

1. What are your expectations for the upcoming season?

I would like to hope that Ipswich will achieve a top 10 finish. Mick has made some good signings, so hopefully they will gel and we will see the club moving in the right direction.

2. Who are the key players to look out for?

The key players to look out for are David Mcgoldrick (Striker), Aaron Cresswell (left back), Luke Hyam (central midfielder) and Daryl murphy (striker).

3. What are your first impressions of our former midfielder Jay Tabb?

Jay Tabb looked a great player last season whilst on loan, he gives us versatility, experience and a work ethic that can be followed by the other members of the team.

4. Mick McCarthy has done a great job at Ipswich hasn`t he?

I agree, he took on a club lacking in confidence that looked destined for relegation. Mick and Terry Connor immediately improved the team morale thus strengthening them. He made some key signings, such as Richard Stearman (who helped improve the defence), and David Mcgoldrick who scored some vital, much needed goals and was involved in some good, all round team play.

5. What are you still expecting from Ipswich in the transfer market?

Although Mick has said that he has signed his last player, I still believe that he is trying to play it down and will sign one more.

6. If you could take any Reading player, who would it be?

I would takeAdam le Fondre. He is a natural goal scorer and I expect him to be one of the top scorers in the championship after having a few good seasons behind him, including one in the premiership last season.

7. What is your prediction for the game?

I predict a score of 1-1, with the goal scorers being Mcgoldrick for Ipswich and Le Fondre for Reading.
