After Wednesdays cup win at West Brom, it’s straight back league action on Saturday and a massive six pointer against relegation rivals Sheffield Wednesday. A full match preview is here…

Vital Quotes:

Midfielder Brian Howard –

‘Getting to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup is great, but it`s no good if you`re in the bottom three. We have to take our good form into the Sheffield Wednesday game and get the three points.’

Back in favour, Jay Tabb –

‘I`m sure the Sheffield Wednesday players will have been sitting at home and rubbing their hands together with us playing 120 minutes. But we have to get out there and attack them and give our all for the first 10 minutes. If we start the game well then we`ll just forget the tiredness.’

Reading Team News:

The Royals will have to do without suspended duo Jobi McAnuff and Shane Long. Jem Karacan is out with a broken hand but Brynjar Gunnarsson is set to return after missing the West Brom game.

Matt Mills is fine despite being forced off in the that game with a knock to the head, and Brian McDermott must decide whether to recall Zurab Kizhanishvili or keep faith with Ivar Ingimarsson in the centre of defence.

Player to watch: Brian Howard

With the return of Marek Matejovsky and Gylfi Sigurdsson to full fitness, his first team place is under threat. However he is performing fantasticly well at the moment and his late late goal kept us in the FA cup on Wednesday night. Will be keen to get one over on Sheff Wed, as a former Sheff Utd player.

Sheffield Wednesday Team News:

The visitors have a number of injury problems, and most of them are because of hamstring injuries. Jermain Johnson, Tommy Miller, Darren Purse and Lewis Buxton will all miss out because of them.

Francis Jeffers is recovering from injury but this game could come too soon for the former Arsenal striker.

Player to watch: Luke Varney

Striker appears to be doing the rounds of the Championship clubs, but his talent is undoubted. If Wednesday are to score goals, you would bank on him doing it.

Last Meeting

Saturday December 5th 2009, Hillsborough. Sheffield Weds 0-2 Royals.

Match Prediction:

Wednesday nigth would have taken a lot out of us, and with limited options to select from with injuries and suspensions, I feel a win may be too far. However I back us not to lose, and will go for a draw 1-1.

Next Fixture:

Sunday 7th March 2010, Aston Villa (H) FA Cup Quarter Final
