After the 6-0 thrashing of Peterborough at the weekend, the Royals face another game against a side struggling at the wrong end of the table. Scunthorpe are a much better side than the championships bottom team though and need just one win from their final three matches to confirm their survival. An exciting game lies ahead, a full match preview is here…

Vital Quotes:

Brian McDermott on our faint play off hopes-

‘We can’t do a lot about Swansea. I can’t imagine they’ll only get one point, I`m sure they’ll get more than that. But if they do lose a couple of games that’ll be just fine for us.’

Scunthorpe striker Gary Hooper –

‘If we can win on Tuesday night then we will be safe and obviously that will be a massive thing for the club.’

Scunthorpe Team News:

The home side are sweating on the fitness of defender Kenny Milne who has recently returned from a long term knee injury but is short on match practise. Left back Marcus Williams is also a doubt so Neil Canavan and Andrew Wright stand by to deputise.

Player to watch: Gary Hooper

The striker struck a hat trick on Saturday against Bristol City and has stated his intent to continue his fine goalscoring form.

Reading Team News:

Zurab Kizhanishvili is struggling with a knee injury but should start, however Brynjar Gunnarsson stands by if he doesn’t make it. Brian McDermott is not likely to make any other changes from the side that beat Peterborough so easily at the weekend.

Player to watch: Jay Tabb

The midfielder has been superb since Brian McDermott restored him to the side and that was no different on Saturday as he controlled the middle of the park.

Last Meeting

Saturday 12th December 2009, Reading 1-1 Scunthorpe.

Match Prediction:

Lingering thoughts of the play offs can continue at least until the weekend as I am backing us to win this game – 2-1 to the Royals.

Next Fixture:

Saturday 24th April 2010, Watford (A)
