The Reading legend, who guided the Royals to the Premiership in 2006 and almost took us into Europe in 2007, has been out of work since resigning as manager at the Madejski Stadium last summer.

He had tried, and failed, to get promotion back to the top flight at the first time of asking and left just hours after the play off semi final defeat to Burnlet, who subsequently went onto to win at Wembley and took their place in the Premiership.

Coppell was manager at the Mad Stad from 2003 after he took over from Alan Pardew when he left to join West Ham.

Everyone at Vital Reading would like to wish Coppell the best of luck at Ashton Gate, except when we play them next season of course!
