Royston Drenthe was pleased to return to action again, but admits the players have to take the blame for the Bournemouth defeat.

The one-time Dutch international was introduced with over twenty minutes to go, which was his first appearance in over two months. In the short period he was on, he made a great impact and it was his direct run and shot that allowed Le Fondre to get a consolation goal late on.

Speaking to the Official Reading FC website, Royston said: ‘I’m really pleased to be back, it was really frustrating to be out for so long. Getting the chance again to get some minutes is a really positive thing for myself but, as everyone knows, I’m a winner and I’m only thinking about the team.’

‘Every game we need to go for three points, so it’s really disappointing that we lost the Bournemouth game. We have ourselves to blame but Bournemouth did a good job. It’s a very good thing if you can win away at Reading at Madejski Stadium, but we should be winning these kind of games.’

Good honesty from Royston, who isn’t shying away from responsibility. He was the quality we were missing all game, even if he is far away from full fitness. I would want, possibly not expect, him to start against Huddersfield this Saturday, preferably through the middle with the Pog.
