Injury update: Six still out

We take a quick look at Reading’s current injury list and when they are most likely to see them again.

Sean Morrison – The central defender suffered a knee injury in training last month, but the club have opted against an operation. We could see Morro back for the boxing day visit to Leicester, but is most likely to be start of January, depending on his progress.

Wayne Bridge – The former England international had an operation last month on his knee, which has been troubling him since joining the Royals in the summer. The likelihood is that Bridge won’t be available until the new year and that’s if his recovery goes well.

Chris Baird – The Northern Ireland international suffered a sprained ankle in training two weeks ago, which will keep him out for another two weeks minimum. He could return for the Leicester game on boxing day, only has a contract until January at the moment.

Jem Karacan – Jem suffered a very serious ligament injury against Watford in September and could well miss the rest of the season. It’s hard to put a timescale on it this early, but could return make a return around Easter if he recovers well.

Mikele Leigertwood – After being out since March, the commanding midfielder returned to action in an under 21 game a few weeks ago, where he completed 45 minutes well. However, he hasn’t played any football since and may have suffered another set back in his return from injury.

Royston Drenthe – Royston made his long-awaited comeback with a great cameo performance against Bournemouth, despite having not played any football in over two months. He is far from full fitness, but Adkins could still give him a start on Saturday.

Jason Roberts – It is nearly a year to the day that Roberts has played football on grass, but after slow progress, is now recovering well. He revealed that he has started light training and is kicking a ball about, but won’t be ready to return until Easter at the earliest.
