Reading midfielder Lawson D’Ath has praised the Reading fans for the amount of support he has received on Twitter, following his place on the bench against Leeds on Saturday.

The 18-year old central midfielder is being considered one of the best prospects in the Reading youth team, down to his superb goal-scoring ability and play-making skills. He has also been likened to Gylfi Sigurdsson and Frank Lampard.

D’Ath told the official RFC website: ”Our fans were great on Twitter, I couldn’t reply to everyone, I put a message to say thank for supporting me, they’re wonderful. Twitter is really good if you use it right, players have a better connection with fans.’

‘I didn’t know until just before the game I would be on the bench, there weren’t any nerves then, but maybe a few when I got to the ground! It was a great experience, I loved every minute. Two of my close mates were Leeds fans, they dragged me into it
[going to watch Leeds] but now I’m a Reading fan!

He also went on an incredible reserves last season, almost scoring 20 goals during the campaign. He signed a new deal in April 2011 and depending on the future of Brian Howard and the FA Cup, Brian McDermott could loan him out to get some first team action under his belt.
