Khumalo plays for Spurs reserves

On-loan Reading defender Bonagni Khumalo turned out for his parent club Tottenham last week, in their reserve match against QPR last Tuesday.

The 24-year old has only made four league appearances since signing in July, with his last appearance coming in a 2-1 Carling Cup loss to Charlton. However, injury since then has affected his progress.

Also hampering his game time is the current form of first-choice centre backs Alex Pearce and Kaspars Gorkss, who have formed a formidable partnership over the past few months, leading to the Royals having the second best away defensive record in the league.

His agent Glyn Binkin told SuperSport.com: ‘Obviously he is an international player and wants to be in the first team. He is ready to fight for a place in the team, but if it looks like he will not get back in, then a move elsewhere is an option. In fact, all options are open at this stage.”

This could mean a departure in the January transfer window but could get some game time in the next few weeks, with Pearce and Gorkss both one yellow card away from a games suspension.

If Khumalo was to leave, rumours have been circulating we could be looking at young Swindon defender Aden Flint, who has been in decent form for the Robins this season.

though he has been very unlucky with injuries, spurs wont want him sitting on the bench and if things havent changed between now and later in Jan, I can see Spurs reluctantly pulling him out of Reading and looking elsewhere, which would be a shame as I always felt that Reading was a great choice to give him playing time

I also thought we would be a good choice for him but he hasn’t really worked out for him, mainly due to his injury and the superb form of Kaspars Gorkss.
