Reading winger Garath McCleary has revealed his frustration at his lack of starts in the team.

The 25-year old joined the Royals from Nottingham Forest in the summer, but has only made seven starts in the Premier League since joining. The form of Jimmy Kebe has restricted McCleary many starts at the Madejski Stadium, but the winger is starting to get frustrated at his lack of starts under Brian McDermott.

Speaking to Jonny Fordham of the Reading Post, the former Forest player said: “It has been frustrating for me, but the gaffer picks the team and I have to work hard to get into it. No player wants to be on the bench and I want to play as much as I can, so it is a bit frustrating.’

‘I just need to keep my head down and play to the best of my ability for the rest of the season. There`s Alfie and Hunty who have both been working hard and trying to change the game from the bench. I`m sure that if we can continue to do that then hopefully we will get our rewards.”

I can’t really understand this frustration from McCleary, as when he has started, he really has shown me anything that he should stay in the side. The only impact I can recall him making in a Royals shirt was against Stoke at the start of the season and that was from the bench!
