Reading striker Noel Hunt has said he wants to sign a new contract at the Madejski Stadium.

The 30-year old’s current deal is set to run out at the end of the current season, but Hunt is yet to be formally offered an extension. Noel, who is a Republic of Ireland international, has made seven appearances in the Premier League, chipping in with two goals.

Speaking to the Reading Post, Hunt said: ‘The gaffer spoke briefly about it the other day so hopefully we can start talks. I’ll do whatever the manager wants me to do to keep this team in the league. I understand what the story is at the moment.’

I have to admit, before the season started I thought Noel wouldn’t be able to crack it in the Prem, but he has done OK. Noel appreciates he isn’t going to play week in, week out in the Premier League, so the contract could depend on what division we are in next campaign.
