A number of Reading’s first team participated in a friendly with Brentford yesterday, coming out 6-0 victors.

The fixture allowed a number of Royals players to gain further fitness ahead of their Premier League survival bid, including the notable duo of Daniel Carrico and Hal Robson-Kanu. Former Welsh under 21 international Jake Taylor fired Chris Cummins’ side in front, before his welsh counterpart Robson-Kanu doubled the lead with a fine strike.

The forgotten man Simon Church scored two just before the half time break, leaving the Royals 4-0 up going into the second half. Robson-Kanu doubled his tally after the interval, before Nick Blackman converted a penalty to wrap up a very successful afternoon in London.

It’s also another 90 minutes for Daniel Carrico, who must be approaching full fitness after only playing three games over the past couple of months. In all fairness to Leigertwood, he hasn’t done too bad recently, but I think Carrico would make a superb defensive midfield partner for Ledge, with Jem Karacan not in the greatest of form at the moment.
