Royals slash financial losses

I’m certainly no good with economics, but it appears we have improved somewhat on the financial front.

Insider Media Limited has released details on how we have slashed our pre-tax income by over £9 million, with this mainly to do with our promotion in the 2011/12 season. We originally had a loss of £11.7 million in 2012, but decreased to £2.3 million in June last year.

We received income mainly from media and broadcasting rights, which totalled £47.8 million, with other income also stemming from commercial deals, matchday income and rugby club London Irish, who play their home games at the Madejski Stadium.

Another notable statistic is how promotion meant our staff (playing and coaching) fees nearly doubled, going £20m to £46m. This obviously includes wage increases on player contracts and new players coming in, with Pog probably adding a few of those millions on!

I’m not really sure how to interpret these statistics, but I can only take it that it a positive sign, in what has been a concerning period on the financial and ownership front. Hopefully more success will be imminent within the next few weeks, with a new owner in place.
