With just three days left to go until the end of the transfer window, it finally appears we may have a forward on the way….

Sky Sports are reporting that the Royals have agreed a £7.5 million fee with Fulham for the transfer of Sone Aluko, who we have been chasing all window. This will double the transfer record set by the Royals with the reported £3.75 million move for Tiago Illori last season.

Jaap Stam has made is fairly clear that he has been after a striker and while Aluko isn’t exactly an out-and-out forward, it’s another attacking option. GetReading are also reporting the move is getting close, as the player has agreed personal terms and is having a medical today.

The 28-year old had a very good season last campaign, scoring eight goals and getting ten assists. Aluko has been after a new deal at Craven Cottage, but with our Championship rivals not willing to offer him a new and improved deal, Reading appeared to have got their man late on.

This would be a very good addition, but £7.5 million for a 28-year old that hasn’t been that prolific throughout his career? I’m not totally sure. It all depends how much we actually have in the bank – if this cleans the budget out, I won’t be so keen. Watch this space!
