The potential record signing of Sone Aluko was confirmed last night, but it appears Stam is still after a striker.

The 28-year old signed a four-year deal at the Madejski Stadium last night, as we signed the forward from Championship rivals Fulham. Reading stated it was an undisclosed fee, but it is believed to a club record signing, with a fee potentially rising to £7.5 million.

Aluko is clearly a very talented player, but I would be a tad disappointed if we’ve blown the majority of our budget on him. That’s a lot of money for a 28-year old and it still doesn’t solve our goalscoring striker issue, but it appears we may still have movement on that.

Preston have confirmed that striker and target Jordan Hugill handed in a transfer request this week, but have rejected that – we may not have seen the end of that though. The Royals had a bid rejected for the forward last week, but it remains to be seen whether we revisit this.

The Reading Chronicle are also reporting that Norwich striker Nelson Oliveira remains a target, despite Norwich standing confirm on any bids. He is currently with the Portugal squad, but with the window shutting tomorrow night, let’s hope there could be some movement very soon.
