Reading continued their pre-season schedule, with a well-fought draw with League One side Yeovil Town.

Similar to the Exeter victory on Tuesday, Nigel Adkins started a strong starting XI, but instead of playing them for just a half, had an hour run-out. For the final thirty minutes of the game, he changed the ten outfield players, with Adam Federici coming on at half-time.

We started the game at Huish Park well, playing some good, attacking football, forcing the keeper into some smart stops. Gary Johnson’s side did have a late chance though, as Leich-Smith latched onto a long ball, but McCarthy did well to thwart the former Crewe striker.

Reading took the lead minutes into the second half though, as Edwards crossed well for Pog to head home. The change in team meant that the momentum swung in the way of Yeovil, who equalised with 12 minutes remaining, thanks to a header from an unnamed trialist.

A good run out for Adkins’ men, who were again without the injured trio of Danny Guthrie, Jem Karacan and Garath McCleary, while Danny Williams wasn’t risked after picking up a knock yesterday. The next friendly is next Saturday against Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park.

Team for first 60 minutes: McCarthy, Gunter, Morrison, Pearce, Obita, Hector, Akpan, Edwards, Taylor, Blackman, Pogrebnyak

Team for last 30 minutes: Federici, Long, Cooper, Hyam, Cummings, Kuhl, Kelly, Tshibola, Stacey, Fosu, Robson-Kanu
