Royals boss maintains usual policy

Reading manager Brian McDermott has once again emphasised he is not concerned about the opposition his team face, but getting them prepared for the Premier League.

The former Slough Town boss has always maintained his ‘one game at a time policy’ during his managerial tenure and that will not change following promotion to the Premier League. The Royals’ first game will be against Tony Pulis’ Stoke side at the Madejski Stadium, who have established themselves in the top division after promotion in 2008.

Speaking to the Reading Post, McDermott said: “I look at the first couple of games, then around Christmas and then the last couple of fixtures, and that is what I generally do. This is the best league in the world with some of the best players in the world. At the start of the season we will aim to do our very best, and after game one we move on to game two.’
