Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers believes that his old side Reading will win the Championship and get promotion back to the Premier League.

The 39-year old was appointed Reading manager back in 2009, but only lasted a matter of months before getting sacked after a poor run of results which left the club in the relegation zone. However, the former Chelsea coach returned to management with Swansea and beat the Royals in the 2011 Championship play-off final.

When speaking to talkSPORT, Rodgers said: ‘They have had a terrific season and are finishing well. I would expect them to be in the top two. It is a terrific club, a club that gave me a start in the game. It didn’t work out so well for me there as a manager but it’s a club I would always like to see do well.’

‘I think they will win promotion and I wont be surprised if Reading win the league. I think they are a terrific team with momentum. They are on a good run at the moment with only a few games left. I think if they get a good result against Southampton then I can see them pushing on.’

Rodgers is one of the contenders for LMA Manager of the Year, after guiding Swansea to mid-table security in their first season. His good, flowing brand of football has also earned him many plaudits from figures over the globe and has made him one of the favourites for the Chelsea job come the end of the season.
