Redevelopment Depends on this Season

Reading have been given permission to increase the capacity at the Madejski Stadium, but chairman John Madejski feels the outcome of this season will determine if these redevelopment plans go ahead.

“We’ve got permission now to take it from 24-25,000 up to 38,000,” Madejski told Sky Sports News.

“This season will be crucial to us and whether we press that green button or not.

“We hope to press that button at the beginning of next year, with a view to taking us up to a greater size. It’s not going to happen overnight, it will happen in stages over two or three seasons.”

Obviously, although this is not a thought many will have, it has to be certain, or very near certain that Reading will be a Premiership club again next season, as if there is any possibility that maybe they might not clearly these plans will be shelved.

But, as is expected, should it be another good season then the next level plans will kick in.
