As Reading take on Derby tonight at the Madejski Stadium, I asked the editor of Vital Derby some questions regarding the fixture. Here are his answers:

How has the early season gone for Derby so far?
We started fairly flatly at Bolton and picked up a couple more draws when we perhaps could have got a result and the pressure of that first win appeared to be on the players minds. We didn’t have a good second half against Preston at the weekend but did enough to win so hopefully this will kickstart the season.

Are you excited/disappointed by the transfer activity during the transfer window?
We’ve done some good business but at the same time with the number of new signingsPaul Clement doesn’t appear to know his strongest side which has affected us a little. Big hopes for Tom Ince and Andreas Weimann but neither have hit form so far but we’ve looked a lot more solid at the back although every deflected shot seems to be finding the corner of the net at the moment against us.

Who is your danger man?
Chris Martin is still a pivotal man up front and has been scoring without really hitting top form so far but I think Bradley Johnson could be a big player for us if he can be worked into the system we play.

And who do you think you need to watch for The Rams?
Nick Blackman looks to be the man at the moment on the goal scoring front although Orlando Sa didn’t look too shabby last time out either!

What are you expectations for the season?
We need to be up there challenging for at least the top six for this season to be considered a success with the change of manager and the level of investment made. Mel Morris says there is no pressure on Clement to take us up this season but for the fans we need to be up there after the way last season ended.

And finally what is your prediction for the match?
Reading are picking up results at the moment and looked impressive putting Ipswich to the sword on Friday night. I think it’ll be low scoring draw, 1-1
