Reading are weighing up the possibiliy of signing free agent Kris Boyd, according to the Daily Star, with Wigan and Leeds also interested in the former Rangers striker.

The 28-year old has become a free agent after having his contract with Eskişehirspor was terminated. He has made 18 appearances for Scotland, scoring seven goals in the process.

Reading have reportedly been in the market for another striker, with the signing of Karl Sheppard nearing to completion. Free agents could be the best fincancial option for McDermott but Boyd’s wages could prove a problem.

Before moving to Turkey, he played for Middlesbrough, where he didn’t make the biggest impression. However, his best scoring years came at SPL champions Rangers, where he scored 101 goals in 143 games.
